There is a saying that "when you are in Nigeria, you can never be bored"! Whether this is one of your first trips to Nigeria or not, there is no shortage of things to do and see in Nigeria. From history to art to culture to the outdoors, Nigeria attractions are uncountable. Nigeria is one of the hot destinations in West Africa for its attractions, historic monuments, sight seeing tours, outdoor activities, cultural activities, clubbing and great food and palm-wine.

OLD OYO NATIONAL PARK

Make a visit to the old Yoruba Empire, and admire Oyo's old Portuguese-style houses.

It is rich in fauna and flora resources, significant species of which are the Buffoon, Buffaloes, and wide variety of birds.

It is also in the middle of a vibrant community rich in tradition and cultural heritage. It has chalets, tourist camps, restaurant, boating and fishing facilities.

ASO ROCK

The rock is the largest rock out crop within the Abuja metropolis, dominating the landscape of the capital city and overlooking residential quarters and office buildings like.

Aso people used to take refuge in the cave during tribal wars and the caves can be visited by tourists. The rock is a sight worth seeing for every visitor.

CROSS RIVER NATIONAL PARK

This is a wildlife park with hundreds of animals and birds. The park is known for its naturally preserved inhabitants and it is one of the many natural attractions in Nigeria, it offers so many activities got the visitors engaged.

The park has many localised species of plants and animals which, include gorilla, drill chimpanzee, gwantibo or golden potto forest elephant, saleginella etc.


AWHUM WATERFALL

Located in Enugu, a city known for natural features likes, caves, waterfalls, galleries, springs, hills and monumental or archeological collections, Awhum Waterfall is more than 30 meters high.

The fall is closely located to a monastery. The water is said to be curative and capable of dispelling evil or satanic forces if and wherever sprinkled.

YANKARI GAME RESERVE

It is a place to see some of Africa's greatest animals such as Elephants, Lions, Tigers etc.

Another feature is Wikki Warm Springs with flood-lit at night and lovely warm water to bath in at night. An ideal place for bird watchers, because the variety of birds here is astounding.

Located in a historical town of Idanre, it is a unique tourist haven, which attracts mystery lovers, spiritualists and lovers of adventure from all parts of the world.

Idanre Hill is a cluster of intimidating and imposing hills that houses some wonderful things which confound the senses. The hills surround the town, envelopes it and dominates life in the town.

GASHAKA-GUMTI NATIONAL PARK

Covering about 6600 sq km, Gashaka Gumti is the Nigeria's largest National Park. This area is important not only as a major watershed but also as a haven for a rich and exotic assemblage of wildlife, given its strategic location at the interface between the moist Cameroonian Highland and the dry Sub-Saharan Guinea Savannah.

The Northern Gumti sector is flat and home to large savannah animals such as elephant, hyena, wild dog, lion, roan antelope and the giant eland.

The Southern Gashaka sector is a mosaic of woodland, lowland & gallery forest, grassland and montane forest - and includes the highest peaks at Chappal Waddi - often called the Mountain of Death.

KAMUKU NATIONAL PARK

Kamuku National Park is located north west of Kaduna near Birnin Gwari in a mostly Guinea Savanna region of Nigeria. The park is ideal for bird watching with 192 species recorded.

The Secretary Bird (Sagittarius serpentarius), Denham’s Bustard (Neotis denhami) and Abyssinian Ground Hornbill (Bucorvus abyssinicus) are all found here.

There are viable populations of elephants; game animals like roan antelope, reedbuck and western hartebeest as well as a small number of lions. Kamuku was upgraded from a state Game Reserve to a National Park in May 1999.

OKOMU NATIONAL PARK

Okomu National Park is part of the the 1,082 square kilometer Okomu Forest Reserve, about 60km north-west of Benin City, capital of Edo State, midwest Nigeria. The area is in the Guinea-Congo lowland rainforest zone with heavy rain fall, about 2,100 mm per annum.

Over 150 bird species and 33 species of mammals, including forest elephants and theNigerian White Throated Monkey, thrive in the area.

Okomu Eco Resort, part of the National Park, is a favorite place for picnickers and tourists. It has comfortable air-conditioned accommodation for visitors. The resort also has conference and entertainment facilities.

CHAD BASIN NATIONAL PARK

Located in the Sudano-sahelian ecological zone of the north-eastern part of Nigeria, Lake Chad Basin is in between Borno and Yobe states. The wetland of Bade and Nguru are internationally acclaimed as congregation site for migrant birds coming all the way from Europe.

The park is a refurbished tourist attraction and it has played host to Prince Bernhard of Netherlands (1987) and Prince Philip of Britain (1989).It has some rare desert wildlife like giraffe, ostrich, red fronted gazelle, etc.

Chad Basin as a park is full of wildlife excitement that will make the spirit of Tourist soar, with different resort sector, making it a full Nigeria-International national Park.

AFI MOUNTAIN WILDLIFE SANCTUARY

Afi Mountains is the home to the drill and other endangered primates including the Nigerian chimpanzee Pan troglodytes vellerosus, and the most endangered gorilla subspecies, the Cross River gorilla diehli.

Afi sanctuary is also host to the Afi Mountain Canopy Walkway which are a series of suspension bridges linked to platforms on trees. They start-off from a hillside slope through flat ground using inclined bridges.

The rugged massif (1400m) is a critical watershed for dozens of communities. It is listed as an IBA (Important Bird Area) for Nigeria and hosts one of the largest migratory swallow roosts in Africa. The forests on Afi are a barrier against the encroaching derived savannah from the west and north.

IITA FOREST IBADAN

Thickest of climbers grow in openings where the secondary nature of the forest is most apparent, with clumps of bamboo Bambusa vulgaris etc. The forest is a good place for bird-watching because it has numerous species of tropical birds.

IITA Ibadan offers recreational facilities such as swimming pool which is adjacent to the Snack Bar, just relax and soak up the rays or take a cool dip. It also has a pool table is available for use inside the I-House. Cue sticks and cue chalk may be obtained from the reception desk.p>

It also has tennis court with floodlight (a place to unwind after a long day), a beautifully laid-out 9-hole golf course, international squash court, badminton, volley ball, and basket ball facilities with flood light.
