Amala and Ewedu soup is a common classy meal of the Westerners in Nigeria. This combination forms a mouthwatering delicacy and It is most common among the ibadan people, As a matter of fact it is their cultural food.
Now let’s see what it is made up of.

Ingredients Needed for Amala and Ewedu soup with Stew

Yam flour, Ewedu leaf, red pepper, chili pepper, fresh tomatoes, palm oil, locust beans, salt, beef or fish as preferred, seasoning, potassium (kanhu).

 

How To Prepare Amala and Ewedu soup with Stew

Procedure for Ewedu

  • First, Pick out the leaf of the ewedu plant, rinse well. Then
  • Put the leave in a pot, add little water, with very little quantity of potassium (kanhu).
  • Next, Boil for about 7 minutes, add locust beans and blend a little with chopping broom (ijabe) or a blender.
  • Finally, Add season and salt to taste.The Ewedu is ready.

Procedure for Stew

  • Moving forward, blend the red pepper, chilli pepper, tomatoes and onions together.
  • Next, Add some palm oil in a dry pot, Let it warm up. Add little slice of onions, fry for 2 minutes.
  • Then, Add the blended pepper, let it cool for 5 minutes. Then add your seasoning and salt to taste.
  • After 2 minutes, you Finally add the fish or meat (as preferred), let it cool for 15 minutes or more.
  • The stew is ready. Now let move to the Amala part.

Procedure for Amala

  • Firstly, In a pot boil some water, sprinkle the yam flour on the boiled water, stir with a wooden turning stick, till it becomes solid, smooth and pleasant.
  • Then, Add little water, cover and let it steam for about 4 minutes.
  • And then stir again until it becomes smooth.


Yes, your Amala and Ewedu soup is ready. You can serve with cold drinks. Then Relax and enjoy.
