President Muhammadu Buhari has signed into law eight bills which were passed by the National Assembly. They are for various parts of the economy and advancement of the nation. The news was confirmed by Ita Enang, The Senior Special Assistant on National Assembly Matters (Senate), on Friday.
The eight laws which were signed by the President are as follows:
The Prevention of Crime Amendment Act‎ 2016,
The National Crop Varieties and Livestock Breeds (Registration) Amendment Act‎ 2016,
The Telecommunications and Postal Offences Amendment Act‎ 2016,
The National Agricultural Land Development Authority Amendment Act‎ 2016,
The Produce Enforcement of Export Standards Amendment Act‎ 2016,
The Agricultural and Rural Management ‎Training Institute Amendment Act‎ 2016,
The Bee Import Control and Management Amendment Act‎ 2016 and
The Water Resources Amendment Act‎ 2016‎.
He said: “The bills were passed by the National Assembly and transmitted to Mr. President for consent and Mr. President today consented to them and they have consequently gotten to be law. Mr. President communicates his gratefulness to initiative and participation of National Assembly, for the colossal work they did in considering the bills and the subtle elements that have gone into the bills‎.‎”
He said Buhari considered the Acts as exceptionally essential to the present organization and in consonants with ‎All Progressive Congress plan and expressed gratitude toward the National Assembly in particular. President had likewise coordinated services, offices and organizations and all administration functionaries to dependably go to and make inputs at whatever point an open hearing on a bill was being directed by the National Assembly. He said: “This is extraordinary in light of the fact that this is the first run through in this organization that eight bills are sent to him at a go for consent.
