Kamuku National Park

This park has a land area of about 1,120sq km of typical savanna woodland vegetation and a wide variety of birds and other animals like elephants, antelopes, oribi, waterbuck, wet cat, green monkey, side stripped hyena and jackal.

Kamuku can be accessed either through Kaduna-Birnin Gwari Road or Lagos–Ilorin–Mokwa to Birnin Gwari town. The Secretary Bird (Sagittarius serpentarius), Denhams Bustard (Neotis denhami) and Abyssinian Ground Hornbill (Bucorvus abyssinicus) are all found here. Read more…


Okomu National Park

Okomu Eco Resort is a favourite spot for picnickers and tourists.

Located in Ovia South LGA, Okomu park which lies 45km west of Benin City is a home of forest elephants, buffaloes, red river hogs, chimpanzees, leopards, bush baby, putty nosed guenon, porcupine, antelopes etc . Chad Basin National Park

The park is full of wildlife excitement.

Located in the Sudano-sahelian ecological zone of the north-eastern part of Nigeria, Chad Basin is in between Borno and Yobe states. The wetland of Bade and Nguru are internationally recognised as congregation site for migrant birds coming all the way from Europe.

The park is a refurbished tourist attraction and it has played host to Prince Bernhard of Netherlands (1987) and Prince Philip of Britain (1989). It has some rare desert wildlife like giraffe, ostrich, red fronted gazelle and others. Read more…


Afi Mountain

Afi Mountain Wildlife Sanctuary is listed as an IBA (Important Bird Area) for Nigeria and hosts one of the largest migratory swallow roosts in Africa.

Afi Mountains is the home to the drill and other endangered primates including the Nigerian chimpanzee Pan troglodytes vellerosus, and the most endangered gorilla subspecies, the Cross River gorilla diehli.

Afi sanctuary is also host to the Afi Mountain Canopy Walkway which are a series of suspension bridges linked to platforms on trees.

IITA Forest, Ibadan
