Abraka travel tips

Located in Delta State, Abraka is a university town and one of the main Urhobo communities in the state. The town has a tropical wet and dry climate with a lengthy wet season and relatively constant temperatures throughout the year.

Thumb ups:

Abraka is a favorite destination for tourists, its beach is famous for its natural flowing spring water, and has sports recreational facilities for outdoor activities like canoeing, fishing, swimming, barbecue, picnicking etc. Abraka Turf & Country Club, which is Nigeria’s only equestrian leisure club, is surrounded by rich tropical rainforest and bordered by the mysterious River Ethiope.

Nestled into the side of the river valley, the turf offers a range of luxury villas providing the finest accommodation, a wide range of activities and every possible comfort. After a tiring afternoon of activities, visitors can take a gentle boat cruise on the river before sunbathing on the handy floating platform erected on the banks.

Also worth checking out is the Abraka River Resort Motel which has its own sandy beach on a river that flows through a beautiful forested area. The best part of this resort is swimming and boating in the springfed crystal clear waters. Gordon River Resort is another great spot which is a delight for those wanting to get away into the kind of serenity that an African jungle can offer. It beautifully expresses the undiluted beauty of nature.

Thumb downs:

Abraka is situated in tropical forest belt which means that visitors should be immuned against tropical diseases such as malaria usually caused by mosquitoe bite. You are advised to travel with musquitoe nets and probably some medications to reduce the risk. Abraka is a rural community so visitors should expect to experience interrupted power supply, sight untarred and unmarked roads, and other features that are commonly spottable in the developing world.
