The Glamourous View Of the Erin Ijesha Waterfall

Erin Ijesha waterfalls as the name implies is an amazing water site with seven steps located in Ijesha, Osun State in the South – Western area of Nigeria.

HOW IT ORIGINATED

Erin- Ijesha is said to have originated in 1140AD. It was called ‘Olumirin’ which means ‘Another Diety”. Due to the mysterious figure, the natives of Erin Ijesha, at the time, believed the waterfalls to be a sacred alter where their souls can be purified.

HOW TO GET TO THE WATERFALL

Getting to the waterfall is quite easy, as with neccessary description it is easy to get there. From Murtala Muhammed Airport located in the heart of Lagos and will be the closest airport in the region, it will take 4hours to get to Erin-Ijesha going through Lagos- Ojoo Express-way. From Osun state,Osogbo, it will take 45 minutes to get to Erin Ijesha waterfalls.

On getting to the waterfalls, the entry fees remain a token of 500 naira and a tour guide will be given to visitors.

ABOUT THE WATERFALL

Erin Ijesha is also well identified for its caves which serves as homes and hiding places to the ancient men in early years.

The opening and closing hours of the attraction site is 7am to 6pm daily and work days are Mondays to Sundays.

When visiting, it is neccessary to be mindful of what you wear as it will be what will be worn throughout the tour experience. It is also very advicable to visit around the summer season, between July to early November, which indeed is the best time for swimming as there is free access to swim in the water.

IMPORTANT TIPS ON OUTFIT THAT CAN BE WORN

While going on a tour to this waterfall, one should wear comfortable shoes for hiking, preferably, shoes it is neccesaary not to put on slippers or sandals because the area is wet and could be slippery and put on shoes that you dont mind getting wet.

For dresses, it is advicable to wear dark colours because the tour will involve dirty hikes and dark color of cloths will conceal all dirts and stains that may occur during the tour.

However, one can go with a change of cloth and a small towel as there is a restroom whwre you can easily change.
